little House bonnets
bicentennial parades
children laughing at my terrible taste
dancing in ashes
my first idea of snow
reveling in dying dreams
of a distant volcano

everything is perfect in this imperfect state

what would bring me back to Candyland and
secrets too dark for suburban man
weren't these homes built on sacred ground
how did it become distilled with
disneyland and dairy cows
